To get the most out of your new aromatherapy candle, it's helpful to follow a few tips and tricks, all of which are mentioned below:
When lighting your candle for the first time, and each time thereafter, allow the wax to melt all the way out to the edge of its container (typically for 2 to 4 hours). This helps prevent "memory rings" and tunnelling, promoting an even burn.
Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Allow it to cool for 2 hours between each burn.
Always keep your wick trimmed to 1/4". This prevents mushrooming of the wick, allows for a slower burn and prevents any build-up of soot. Be careful not to allow any trimmings to fall into the wax, as this creates a fire hazard.
Always be sure to burn your candle on an even-levelled surface, away from any drafts or other heat sources. Otherwise, your candle may burn unevenly and quicker than usual.
When you have 1/2" of wax left at the bottom of your candle, it's time to say goodbye. It's important not to burn your candle completely, as it may cause the container to overheat.
Keep your candle away from direct sunlight and hot environments, as this may cause defects in candle performance.
